Coolidge Shoe Storage Cabinet

Visitors assume it's storage for linen or crockery. Nobody has ever guessed it's full of shoes, which was the entire brief.

I hesitated for weeks. What decided it was that everything cheaper was particle board with a printed oak finish, and this is actual oak that will still look like this in ten years. Only the legs needed fitting, about twenty minutes. The double-door would have been too small for us, so I'd urge you to count your shoes honestly before choosing.

Good to see it in the box rather than sold separately. Took five minutes and given the height and the weight of a full cabinet I'd do it on any piece like this.

We went for the four-door and it took every pair we own with room left over, around thirty pairs. The adjustable shelves are the real win, I dropped one down a level on the left so my wife's ankle boots stand upright instead of being crammed in sideways. Doors close flush and it just reads as clean oak cabinetry in the hallway, nobody guesses it's shoes.

Every other cabinet we looked at had fixed shelves at sneaker height. Being able to give boots a tall bay and thongs a short one means nothing is wasted.
