Liora Amber Floor Lamp

It's rated for a small area and that's accurate, it's a reading light and a mood light rather than something that lights a whole lounge. Knowing that, it's perfect. The amber glass on the warm setting is genuinely beautiful and the iron base is heavy enough not to rock.

Most floor lamps I tried put the shade right at eye level from a seated position. This throws down from above the chair back, which is what you want for reading.

Some lamps call 3000K warm and it's still clinical. This is properly golden. We use it instead of the ceiling light most evenings.

I'd been trawling markets for something like this for a year. Brass-toned metal, ribbed glass shade, the whole thing looks like it came out of an old apartment. Assembly was screwing three pole sections together and sitting the shade on, about ten minutes. What sold me over an actual antique is the three colour temperatures, warm for evenings and cool white when I'm working, which no old lamp is going to give you.

Iron base has proper mass. Our labrador goes through that corner at speed and it hasn't been knocked over once.
